How to File an SSS Maternity Notification Online Thru My.SSS

Social Security System
Do you know that you can file your SSS Maternity Notification thru the SSS website?   This service is available to all members who are registered as online member.  This service is specially beneficial to self- employed and voluntary members.  If you file your maternity notification online, you do not have to go through the hassle of lining up at your SSS Servicing Branch to have the Maternity Notification (MAT1) Form and supporting documents submitted.  Unlike employed members whose Maternity I and II forms are submitted by their respective employers, self- employed and voluntary members have to file their maternity claims on their own that means extra time, effort, and expenses in going to an SSS office.  One of the improvements in SSS service is this maternity notification online.  To be able to use this service, you need to log in to your SSS account, if you are not yet registered as an online member, go to SSS website and fill out the Online User ID Registration.  Click here to learn how to register online.

Please check our growing list of Q & A on SSS Maternity Benefit >>

After successfully logging in to your account, navigate to TRANSACTIONS menu then click the Maternity Notification link.  You need to fill out an online form that requests for information such as expected date of delivery, number of delivery/miscarriage prior to current notification and date of last delivery/miscarriage.  Those are the same information that you will provide if you opt to submit your Maternity Notification Form directly at an SSS office.  The good thing with the online maternity notification aside from escaping the hassle of waiting in line is that you do not need to submit right away all the supporting documents needed.  Also,  you will be informed if you are entitled to this benefit based on your monthly contribution and an estimated computation of your maternity claim is also available online.  So after you have successfully submitted your notification, you will receive a message thru the site with reference number and an indicator that your MAT1 is online accepted.   You only need to print this confirmation page or email which will serve as your MAT1 form.   Attach to your Mat II Form together with supporting documents which you will later need to submit to your SSS servicing branch after securing the birth certificate of your child. One less hassle in going to the crowded SSS office just to submit your MAT1 Form.

  1. Hi,

Have done as instructed above. I'm able to receive an email with transaction number and expected date of delivery. Is there another email that would tell me that my notification has been accepted online, or receiving the first email I mentioned above should be taken as acceptance? Please advise.
    Thank you.

    2. Hi. My wife has received her meternity benefit. After delivery, when she returned to work a month or two later, her employer said she did not qualify for the SSS Maternity benefit. We were mind bogled as we thought we are qualified since we followed all the necessary steps and provided the correct and complete documents. Please note that also, our latest baby is our 4th baby, also, he is our child that we took advantage of the maternity benefit. The other 3, was not filed for. Now her employer said the total amount of the Maternity Benefit will be deducted from her salary. We don't want that to happen as we pay bills and also for our child. Please respond as you can. Our latest baby is the 4th delivery and 4th living child.

  2. Hi diane,
The email that you receive is a proof that you have successfully filed your maternity notification through online means. You can also check it in your My.SSS wherein it is stated there that maternity notification is 'online accepted'.

  3. Print the email notice that you receive in lieu of the MAT1 form and attach it to your MAT2 form when you file your maternity claim together with other supporting documents.

  4. Hi,

I'm already 8th month pregnant now, I went to SSS this morning to submit my MAT1 however when it was my turn to submit it, it's offline so the personnel asked me to log my sss info together with the expected date of delivery on a log book and she put a stamp on my MAT1 form and an indication that it was offline that day, she then told me to pass my MAT1 together with the MAT2 and all other documents after i gave birth. will it suffice everything? i mean as i've known , we need to pass the MAT1 before delivery but now she told me to pass it after togethr with the MAT2. is it really okay? im just concern about the approval of my maternity benefits thou.

    1. Hi,
The MAT1 form that was stamped by your SSS servicing branch should be honored when you submit it together with your MAT2. If you are a voluntary/self employed member, you can try the online notification through My.SSS to be sure, just follow the steps above.

  9. Hi Ms. Arlene

I have some concern regarding my MAT-1. Im 5 months pregnant now and I submitted my MAT-1 when I was on my 3rd month. My employer returned my MAT-1 after a week with signature from SSS that they received it. However, when I check my online account it says that "Member has no maternity notification". Does it mean that SSS denied my notification or something? I need some advice. Thanks in advance :)

    1. Hi Ems,
Your MAT1 that was submitted by your employer and stamped received by the SSS servicing branch is proof that you have notified SSS of your maternity. Provided that you are updated in your monthly contribution and you already have that duly stamped received MAT1, rest assured that you can avail of your maternity claim. The status of MAT notification is updated in SSS website in real time only if you have filed online. You can call the SSS hotline if you want to make sure that your MAT1 has already been filed.

  11. Hi,
There is no facility yet for online submission of MAT2. Depending on the country where you are based, there are SSS overseas offices in some countries usually located in our embassy. It is better if you file your MAT 2 Immediately after your delivery to avoid further problems.

  12. Hi Ms Arlene,
I filed for my MAT2 last Dec23. Now according to the lady who processed the reimbursement, I will receive a cheque thru the mail. Is it true? And I've been checking my online account for updates if the MAT2 is being processed and whatnot but I can't find the information... Please advise, thanks..

    1. Hi Renee, you cannot see an update regarding the processing of your MAT2 through your online account <> However, you can check the status of your maternity claim though other means such as the SSS phone hotline and through TextSSS facility. In my case, i received my check through courier delivered to my address.

    2. To check your mat claim thru text, you first need to register by texting SSS REG then send to 2600. A PIN will be sent to you. You can now inquire about your maternity by texting the following:

      1. Type SSS STATUS Maternity , send to 2600 then wait a reply.

Just be sure to have enough load. Postpaid account seem to be not working with this. You need to have a prepaid account with sufficient load balance to cover the inquiry fee that costs around P2.50 per text.

    1. Hi Angelica,
The maternity notification online is for self employed/voluntary members only. If your current status is "employed" ( I assume you are employed ) you need to submit your form directly to your employer. They should be the one to file it at your SSS servicing branch.

  18. Congratulations that you have submitted you Mat1 online successfully. All documentary requirements/supporting docs must be submitted once you file your Mat2 at your SSS servicing branch after you have given birth. 1. You have paid three monthly contribution within the 12 month period immediately preceding your childbirth or miscarriage.
      2. You have submitted your MAT 1 to the SSS.

  28. Hi Ms. Arlene,

Thank you for posting this very informative article. I was able to submit my online maternity notification successfully. This made life easier for me since I had one less thing to worry about.

Anyway, I just have one question. You mentioned that the confirmation email will serve as my Mat I and I only need to attach it to my Mat II Form together with supporting documents which I will later need to submit to "my SSS servicing branch" after securing the birth certificate of my child. I usually do my transactions with SSS Cubao branch but my partner and I will be moving to the province. Can I submit the Mat II together with the supporting documents in the provincial SSS branch instead of SSS Cubao?

    Thank you. :)

You are welcome. I am glad to know that my post helps. About your question it is better if you first update your data with SSS specifically your address to avoid problems. You can do this by submitting your data amendment form with SSS. Be reminded that the maternity claim check is usually sent to your registered address.

  32. Hi,
you can authorize your friend to file your maternity benefit on your behalf however, the check is usually delivered to the member's registered address. Your friend should check first with the branch if she can change the delivery address or if she can pick up and claim on your behalf. You can also email SSS at member_relations@sss.gov.ph to inquire about your concern.

Please advise.

  37. Hi marie,
Yes you can update your records with SSS and at the same time file your maternity notification. You only need to fill out the data amendment form and attach your marriage certificate since you will be updating your civil status and your surname. Submit the forms in your SSS servicing branch. Since you are already at the branch, do submit your mat1 at the same time.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Correction above, the semester of contingency is july to dec. the 12 month period is from july last year to june of the present year.

  43. thank you po miss arlene..follow.up question lang po, hindi ba yan nababase kung ilang months na yung contribution mo kasi year 2002 to May2005 naghulog na po ako sa sss nung employed pa ako pero na.stop lang po nung wala na akong trabaho tapos ngayon lang nakapaghulog ulit as a voluntary paying member...tnx po.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Please check my post on how to compute the maternity benefit. Base po ang computation sa recent 12 month contribution mo that excludes the semester of contingency as i explained previously. So if you paid 550 during that 12 month period, ang corresponding salary credit that will be considered is 5000. Tapos kung nakailang hulog ka within that 12 month na max is six months at not less than 3 months. Example 5000 SC x 4 months / 180 days x 60 days if normal delivery.

    1. Base sa requirement, kung due date mo ng October, exclude the semester of contingency, so July to December yun. Ang 12 month period na dapat may naihulog ka na at least three months ay from July last year up to june this year. Check my post on how to compute your maternity benefit so you will have an idea.

  51. Hi, for sss, mahaba naman ang deadline/claim period. Nasa 10 years.

    1. Entitled ka sa maternity benefit for as long as you have sufficient proof and documentary requirements. Based on my own experience, what I submitted with SSS was the one issued by the Local Civil Registrar since the NSO copy was not yet available two months after i gave birth. It was accepted by my SSS servicing branch since it was a legal document. So I don't see why yours was not accepted.

  56. In your case, the semester to be excluded is jan to june 2014. Count 12 months backward, so it mesns you need to have at least 3 months cintribution from jan 2013 to december 2013. I suppose you have contribution from jan to jun 2013. If you have paid for it,nyou are entitled to the mat claim.

    1. The maternity benefit that your wife gets depend on the amount of her monthly salary credit. You can have the computation in one of my posts. Read it so you will have the correct computation

  68. hi joy,
it is not that difficult to file for change of status sa sss. All you need to do is accomplish the data amendment form and attach your marriage contract. You can already use your new surname sa mga application forms mo dahil legal ka nmang married na with your marriage contract. ang dapat mo gawin is do it as soon as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  69. i lost my mat-1 form? how do i proceed?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hi Gabrielle, you need to attach your MAT1 that was stamped received by SSS once you submit the MAT2. But as you said naiwala mo ito, you need to have an affidavit of loss to attach to your MAT2 together with all the supporting document that you have previously submitted with your MAT1. Your SSS servicing branch can easily verify your MAT1 submission since computerized a ang system nila at nakarecord naman dun if nakasubmit ka na ng MAT1.

      Delete
You only need to pay at bayad center or accredited collection partner using the payment form at specify mo na voluntary member ka. Then file mo yun Mat1 mo, maaring online or sa sss office mismo.

Can I still claim for my maternity benefit or do i need to contribute personally to avail this?

  89. HI po! I have a question regarding my maternity benefits claim. I filed my MAT 1 on May 2014 with single civil status. My husband and I got married last May 2014. I gave birth to our son June 2014. I used my single status in my hospital records but it's indicated in our son's b-certificate that his parents are married. I intend to file my MAT2 using my maiden name and single status since my id's and hospital records are under my maiden name. However an sss personnel told me I have to change my civil status using form E4 and present an ID using my married name (which I have none yet) because it is indicated in our son's b-certificate that I'm married to his father. Is there anything that I can do so that I will not be forced to change status and produce id's using married name yet? Thanks!

    Please help.
    I only have these contributions:
    2012 = October (1,550) November (1,550) December (1,550)
    2014 (April (1680) May (1680) June (1680)

And giving birth this coming October. Am I still qualified to avail maternity benefits? I am self-employed. If I am still qualified can I still file Maternity notification? I tried to file online but I think there is a problem with my data record. It is written there that I am self-employed but when I clicked Maternity Notification it says" File through your employer?" How can I fix this? Thank you so much for your help.

  108. Hi aldea, the mat1 is required to be attached to your mat2 as well as certification of your previous employer na hindi ka nabigyan ng advance payment of mat benefit otherwise hindi ka makakapagclaim. Kung wala naman talagang naiadvance na pera sa yo, you can just request for consideration sa dati mong employer na maibigay ang copy ng mat1 na sana ay naifile nga nila.

  112. Hi joe, try to put zero sa number of delivery/ miscarriage or leave blank. Tapos leave blank mo lang ang date. That should be accepted. Otherwise fill up na lang kayo ng mat1 form at isubmit nyo na agad sa pinakamalapit na sss branch dahil nasa last term n pala sya. Before manganak dapat naifile nyo na yan kasama ng ultrasound and Med cert pati xerox ng latest payment nya.

  134. Good day!

I'm already resigned in my previous company when I notified SSS about my pregnancy. I personally passed my MAT-1 and it has been approved and signed. My EDD is supposedly January this year. However, I gave birth on my 1st child last December 2014 by a caesarian section. I have checked the requirements needed for Maternity Claim on SSS site and have also researched online finding same situation as mine to make sure that I have all the required documents before going to SSS. When I went to SSS Binondo Branch to pass my MAT-2 along with other documents needed, the officer required me to pass a Certification for Non-advancement of benefit and L501 from my previous employer. Is the Certification of Non-advancement still required if I'm already resigned when I notified SSS about my pregnancy? As I have read on SSS site, this is only needed if the separation is within or prior the confinement period or after the date of delivery. Is the SSS site outdated that I haven't know all those information and required documents for Maternity Claim?

I've already asked the HR officer in my previous company requesting for the said certification but she told me that they might not grant me my request because I'm no longer employed when I passed my MAT-1.

Your response will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  136. hi Sandra, if you resigned, you need to update with sss your membership status. The better option is to be a voluntary member. You only need to pay your monthly contribution using RS5 form tsaka ka magapply ng MAT1 mo to avoid problems. Hi rhen, sss and philhealth have maternity benefits that you can both avail if you are member in both. For the one asking about L501 and certification from previous employer, required talaga iyon sa pagclaim since employed ka at the time na nagfile ka ng mat1.

  138. Hi ms. Arlene, hope you can help me. Can I still avail my SSS maternity Benefits for my five (5) years old son. Since I was employed on my previous company last 2009, I was unable to have thier CERTIFICATE OF EMPLOYMENT as one of requirements for claiming my benefits because I got AWOL from their company. I have no certificates from them and maybe because I was employed less than 1 month. But I was employed after 7 months of my delivery from June 2010- May 2011 and another company for 2012 up to 2014,and now Im currently working. What should I have to do to continue pursuing my Maternity benefits for my son??

Your response will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you so much.

  139. Hi good evening. My status is currently married, but annulment is in process since I am separated from my husband for 13yrs. As per my Atty. we're almost done on the papers hopefully we will get the court order this year. When I filed my MAT 1 with my current employer I used my husband's last name. As per my Atty and OBGyne I can use in the birth certificate of the child as single so the father of my baby which is my current partner can have his last name for the baby since he is very much willing as well. I will be giving birth by September this year. My question is will there be any problem when claiming my benefits or filing the MAT2 when in my baby birth cert I will have my maiden name or single status? Need your inputs please. Thank you so much

  143. Hi,

I just married last December and still haven't updated SSS of my current status. Can I still file the maternity notification online? And if it's ok should I still use my maiden name in filling up the form? Is there a way to update my current status and surname thru online? Looking forward to your reply/advice.
    Thank You!
